My Exercising Motivators
It’s important to have a motivator to exercise be something other than guilt. No one is authentically motivated by a tyrant.
Here is why I exercise every day:
Physically, my exercises are supportive of my
flexibility
strength
endurance
I don’t do high-impact exercises for these reasons:
I haven’t liked the feeling of doing high-impact exercising since I’m not young anymore—high-impact feels like I’m punishing and working against my body.
I believe high-impact exercises aren’t good for my joints, bones, etc.
Mentally and emotionally, this is what exercising does for me:
It’s a stress and anxiety release. It keeps me sane.
It’s an all-around strength-builder: it gives me confidence that I can handle whatever comes up.
It gives me a sense of accomplishment that doesn't require tons of thinking.
It gives my mind a break from tasks, projects and other obligations.
It fosters my mind-body connection.
It gives me valuable alone time.
I use the time to listen to podcasts or whatever audio I enjoy: two birds, one stone.
It is a life-time investment into my health and wellness.
It’s my caring for my best friend, me.
All of the above brings forth creativity, new ideas and clarity.
For all of these reasons, if I do nothing else in a day, I make sure do my exercises.
